US hit singer Carrie Underwood stood on stage at President Donald Trump’s inauguration ready to perform, but her music did not play.

Underwood stood for minutes waiting for her music to start so she could sing for Mr Trump, former presidents and invited guests.

The world watched, holding their breath for the singer during the awkward prolonged pause in the ceremony until an event organiser approached Underwood, telling her the music was not going to play.

Senator James Langford said: “Checotah, Oklahoma’s own Carrie Underwood demonstrated grace under pressure today and her incredible talent. Thank you for honouring our beautiful nation.”
