But it was one Aussie comedian’s use of the tone that might have gone the most viral.
Content creator and performer Con Coutis “made a beat” out of the alarm — sourced from a Channel 7 explainer video — that listeners can’t get enough of.
Posted to Instagram, the tune begins with a warning from 7NEWS Australia’s social media team which states: “This is your reminder that on Monday, July 27th, your phone will vibrate and make this noise.”
In the clip, Coutis can be seen holding his laptop to the camera as the dance track plays, then bobbing his head as the beat drops while wearing dark sunglasses.
“I made this in an hour be nice,” Coutis captioned the post.
In a little more than a day, it has garnered in excess of 9000 likes, 8000 shares, a couple hundred comments, and been featured on morning TV.
Fans of the comic and his musical material have been so impressed they’ve demanded more.
“🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 on repeat til we get the full 1hr club Mix,” one person wrote.
“Please make this in every EDM sub genre. 🙌 It’s dope af,” another said.
Coutis teased “custom rigntones need to make a comeback, and I’m LEADING THE CHARGE.”
Saluting his mash up of the alarm tone and their warning message, 7NEWS Australia commented: “You dropped this king 👑.”

The AusAlert tone was sent to all mobile phones in Australia, along with some smartwatches and tablets.
Users who did not receive the alert may hold older devices, require a software update, or may have been out of range from mobile signal when the alert was sent.
