Hollywood actor and musician, Martin Mull, has died after a long battle with a mystery illness, aged 80.

The veteran actor was best known for his roles in TV shows such as Arrested Development and Rosanne, and the murder mystery movie Clue.

Mull’s daughter announced the actor’s death on Thursday over Instagram.

“I am heartbroken to share that my father passed away at home on June 27th, after a valiant fight against a long illness,” she said.

Mull, who has been working in Hollywood for over four decades, also starred in TV shows Veep, Two and a half men, and also in the cult favourite Sabrina the Teenage Witch as Principal Willard Kraft.

He starred alongside Hollywood heavyweights Robin Williams and Sally Field in the 1993 film Mrs. Doubtfire.

Heartbroken fans took to Facebook to express their shock.

“Rest in paradise, one of the great actors of my era,” one person posted.

“I will always remember him as Leon on Roseanne and in the movie Mr. Mom starring Michael Keaton,” said another

“Always going to remember him as Leon, the only man who could go jab for jab with Roseanne.”
