Hugh Jackman’s romance with Sutton Foster sparks tension with ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness

Just weeks after an insider revealed Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness were moving in a “positive direction” after finalising their divorce, fresh tensions have reportedly surfaced.
Australia’s former golden couple divorced in June after almost three decades of marriage. While their separation initially appeared amicable, things took a turn when Furness, 69, hinted that Jackman, 57, committed an act of “betrayal”.
However, it seemed the pair, who share two adopted children, were working through their differences to repair their relationship after a highly publicised break-up.

Now, a claim has emerged that the Australian actress is deeply unsettled by Jackman’s public displays of affection with his girlfriend, Tony Award-winning actress Sutton Foster.
“Hugh and Sutton are everywhere right now – red carpets, concerts, even cuddling in the street,” a source told New Idea.
“It’s like he’s taken their truce as a green light to bring Sutton front and centre of his world – and it’s putting pressure on Deb that she’s not ready to deal with.”
Jackman and Foster, 50, first sparked romance rumours in 2024 after they starred in the hit Broadway revival of The Music Man together. They didn’t confirm their relationship until January this year.
Last week, the couple popped into Old Mates Pub in New York after attending the Gotham Awards alongside Jackman’s Song Sung Blue co-star, Kate Hudson.
Jackman and Hudson led the crowd at the Aussie pub in an impromptu sing-along of Sweet Caroline, with Foster dotingly watching on and later sharing a video on her social media.
The source claims these scenes were “hard for Deb to see”.
“They’re all her old friends too, and to hear they were all singing ‘Sweet Caroline’ together is just too much. She feels like she’s being rubbed out by people she was really close to.”
Adding to the tension, Jackman is reportedly planning to bring Sutton to Australia for Christmas, which hasn’t sat well with Furness.
“Deb agreed to a truce last October hoping for a peaceful family Christmas that the kids can enjoy. She can’t win,” the source said.
“Hugh’s expecting way too much and Deb has made it crystal clear she doesn’t want the Hugh and Sutton snog show anywhere near her.”
The development is believed to have shocked The Greatest Showman star, who thought his relationship with Furness was improving.
“He was telling mates this October how peaceful everything felt. Now, he’s walking on eggshells again. He doesn’t wantto ruin anyone’s Christmas and neither does Sutton, but he’s torn over how to handle this.”
