“I’m going to take a picture right here,” Elordi said to the official.
He followed up by telling the man, “Don’t ever tell me what to do.”
According to the TikToker mancrushdaily who posted the video, Elordi “was so nice” and tried to accommodate as many fan photo requests as possible.
Despite this, comments on the video, which has been viewed over 830,000 times, criticised Elordi’s treatment of the staff member.
One viewer commented, “That was really super rude of Elordi.”
Another added, “Poor guy he was just doing his job.”
Others pointed out, “He’s there for your safety. He’s doing his job,” while a different fan remarked, “Honestly, the entitlement of some celebrities.”
Elordi, known for his roles in Saltburn and Euphoria, was attending his first public event since splitting from Olivia Jade Giannulli, 25.
He was dressed in a classic black suit and bow tie for the Frankenstein premiere.
The screening concluded with Elordi openly emotional, as the Guillermo del Toro-directed film received a lengthy 13 to 14-minute standing ovation.
People noted Elordi was “moved to tears” at the response as he hugged del Toro and co-star Mia Goth, 31, who plays Elizabeth Lavenza in the film, before bowing his head toward the audience.
During the ovation, del Toro, 60, embraced Elordi.
In the film, Elordi takes on the role of Frankenstein’s monster, with Oscar Isaac portraying Victor Frankenstein and Mia Goth appearing as Frankenstein’s love interest. The cast is rounded out by Christopher Waltz, Felix Kammerer, Lauren Collins, Lars Mikkelsen, Charles Dance, and Ralph Ineson.
At Saturday’s Venice press conference, Elordi discussed immersing himself in the role: “It was a vessel that I could put every part of myself into. From the moment that I was born to being here with you today, all of it is in that character. And in so many ways, the creature that’s on-screen in this movie is the sort of purest form of myself. He’s more me than I am.”
Frankenstein is set for an Australian cinema release on October 23, prior to its Netflix debut on November 7.
