“It’s obvious dude is crying for help,” one user wrote, while another asked, “Are you sleeping okay?” referring to Bieber’s frequent and irregular posting times.
Others offered encouragement, with fans telling the singer, “You’re very loved” and “We’re here”.
The post followed a string of peculiar bathroom selfies Bieber uploaded a day prior, which showed him pulling unusual expressions in a mirror.
“U could point at my flaws,” he captioned the post, “Or u could recognise ur own lil b...h.”
Some followers said it was “hard and sad to watch” the singer’s behaviour online, questioning whether those close to him were stepping in.
In another recent Instagram update, Bieber shared a series of photos from a FaceTime call with singer-songwriter Ernie Halter, writing, “Feels good 2 be seen for who I am this sh.t ain’t easy. Thank u @erniehalter for being a real friend.”
Supportive messages quickly followed, with one fan urging, “Keep posting. Keep expressing yourself. Your voice matters. Heal in public, be messy in public. Just be you.”
Bieber’s public demeanour has caused concern before, most recently during a February event for his wife Hailey Bieber’s beauty brand, where his behaviour was widely scrutinised.
Though his spokesperson denied any drug use at the time, Bieber has previously been candid about his marijuana use.
Several people close to the singer have since expressed concerns about his mental well-being.
