Karen Huger: Real Housewives of Potomac star handed prison time after guilty DUI verdict

A global TV star has been sentenced to a year in prison, breaking down in court after learning her fate,
Karen Huger, star of Real Housewives of Potomac, was slapped with prison time after being found guilty in a DUI case.
The star was involved in an incident in 2024, with police alleging she was driving under the influence of alcohol, where she crashed a Maserati into a median street and street sign at speed.

Before sentencing, Hugher emotionally made her case to Judge Terrence McGann.
“I understand better the brutal clarity of the fact that when you’re behind a car driving you’re not just driving for yourself,” she said.
“It’s my responsibility to make sure that my community members make it where they need to be safely.”

However, Judge McGann held concerns over previous offences, deciding not to let the Real Housewives franchise star walk free.
“Can we believe that she’s only driven while intoxicated four times in the last 17 years or is it more likely that she’s been very lucky and her inebriation has gone undetected?” he asked.
She was given a two-year term, however, one year was suspended, Fox 5 Washington DC reported.
Since the incident, Hugher’s team have confirmed she checked into rehab.
