KIIS FM star Kyle Sandilands hits back at shocking rumour after revealing he needs brain surgery

Sydney radio king Kyle Sandilands has slammed nasty rumours he is faking his health problems, after revealing on air he is suffering from two aneurysms and will need emergency surgery.
The KIIS FM co-host, 53, made the devastating diagnosis public earlier this month. Sandilands, known for his outrageous persona, struck an unusually serious chord when discussing his health woes.
Sandilands’ life-threatening condition was spoken about on popular podcast, Game Changers: Melbourne Radio Wars, where industry veterans Craig Bruce, Wade Kingsley and Irene Hulme, floated gossip it could be a publicity stunt.

Bruce said he wouldn’t be surprised if there was a “living funeral”, saying “he’s [Sandilands] wanted to do it for a long time”.

“You know your favourite podcast Game Changers … There was a rumour that popped up on their podcast, Wade, one of the hosts, he brought up a rumour in the industry about your brain aneurysm …” Sandilands’ co-host, Jackie “O” Henderson, said on the Kyle and Jackie O Show on Monday.
Sandilands laughed off the comment, before taking his usual potshot at the industry veteran.
“I’m surprised at Craig Bruce … Years ago he was one of the most renowned radio geniuses, but he hasn’t even taken his own advice here and done any research,” Sandilands said.
“The surprise that I haven’t had the emergency surgery is no surprise to anyone who listens to the show, because I’ve gone to the surgeon and it’s a strange shape, so it’s not a simple thing to get to.
“I’ve made it quite clear to journalists and on this show that it’s more dangerous to go in and get it out right now than it is to keep monitoring it.
“It is dangerous, I’ve got to change my whole lifestyle which is complete s***, but it is what it is.”
Sandilands informed listened of his brain aneurysm on his radio show earlier this month.
“The [brain] aneurysm is at a Y junction and it is at the top. The shape of it has limited the operation they can do. The only option to get to it is to [open the skull],’ he said.
“That will mean I have this huge scar from the forehead to top of ear, and they would have to drill a hole in my skull, go into the brain and clip it off.”
Sandilands later revealed he also has an aneurysm in his chest.
“They found another one in my chest and that’s a separate surgery and I have very bad calcium build-up in the heart, where I’m likely to have a heart attack.”
Sandilands expects to take eight weeks off The Kyle and Jackie O Show for the treatment.
“My wife, every time I look at her, her eyes well up with tears. She is already counting down the days.”
“The facts are a life of cocaine abuse and partying are not the way to go,” he said.
Sandilands has been a team alongside Jackie “O” for the past 20 years.
He is also a judge on Australian Idol, on Seven.
