Lionel Richie admitted to ICU after health scare during St. Louis concert months after falling ill on stage
Concern is growing for Lionel Richie after the 77-year-old was admitted to ICU following a worrying concert moment.
Lionel Richie has been admitted to intensive care after suffering another health setback while on tour.
The Grammy-winning singer, 77, checked himself into the ICU as a precaution following his performance in St. Louis on Saturday, August 29, according to TMZ, which first reported his hospitalisation.
Richie is currently touring alongside Earth, Wind & Fire as part of his Sing a Song All Night Long tour and took to the stage at The Muny in St. Louis on Saturday.

According to TMZ, concerns emerged during the St. Louis concert when Richie asked his team to bring him a chair while he performed his final song of the night, “All Night Long.”
The latest incident comes just months after the American Idol judge was forced to cut another concert short after becoming unwell on stage in St. Paul, Minnesota, on June 24.
That performance marked the opening night of his tour, with Richie telling the crowd he was feeling dizzy and revealing he had never previously performed “Dancing on the Ceiling” while sitting down, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune.
“When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your ass down,” he joked, before sitting at the piano to perform “Three Times a Lady” and later taking an unexpected intermission.
Richie ultimately postponed two concerts following the health scare after doctors advised him to “rest and return to full health.”
He made his return to the stage on June 30 and wasted little time making light of the concern surrounding his health.
Richie joked to the crowd that he “had you worried there for a minute, huh?,” according to TribLive.
“You have no idea what I have been through in the last 24 hours, listening to my friends tell me their advice on what I should be doing,” he said.
Days later, Richie moved to reassure concerned fans that he was recovering and “doing well” in an Instagram post shared on July 4.
“Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love. ❤️ I’m doing well, and I’m grateful for all of you,” he captioned the post. “Pittsburgh and Detroit were an absolute joy. The energy, the dancing, the faces in the crowd… we made real memories together. See you in Toronto... let’s party all night long! 🎉”
The latest hospitalisation comes after Richie continued performing throughout the following months, with the singer now facing another health setback while in the midst of his tour.
