Ozempic is a once-a-week injectable prescription medicine, designed to be used alongside diet and exercise, to improve blood sugar levels and manage the risk of heart attacks and stroke.

Its active ingredient, semaglutide, controls insulin secretion from the pancreas but has also been found to suppress appetite receptors in the brain.

In a carousel Instagram post on Saturday, she shared a selfie video of herself mouthing the viral TikTok phrase “it’s like a reward,” with the caption: “When you finally get Ozempic allegations after 5 months of weight training and calorie deficit.”

Lizzo has been sharing updates on her physical and mental health journey following a difficult year.

Known for embracing self-love, the singer is a body positivity advocate.

“FINE BOTH WAYS,” she captioned a clip of her body transformation on Thursday.

Along with gym sessions, as seen across her social media, she has made it clear that much of this transformation is mental, often sharing inspirational quotes and posting an “affirmation of the week”.

The singer says she looks good 'both ways'.

She reflected on these changes across the last year in a post on Wednesday, posting a gym selfie and an affirmation that reads: “I chose repair over resentment.

“I comfort the child within me who didn’t get what they needed. I can’t go back in time, but I can shape-shift my life so that my wellbeing is now centred.”

In a caption on the post she wrote there was “no revenge because Saturn has my back,” before reflecting on where she was at this time last year.

“I’m so grateful to God during this eclipse season … I’m normally so scared and stressed, but this time I’m finding joy and comfort in honouring my feelings and healing my inner baby Lizzo,” she said.

“A year ago today I was so broken and dark that I couldn’t have imagined feeling the way I do now.

“This is a message for anyone going through it— don’t allow the darkness to become you. Because everything that is done in the dark always comes back to the light. I LOVE YOU.”

The singer has had a challenging 12 months.

Three of her former dancers claimed in a lawsuit filed in August 2023 they were subjected to a hostile work environment and harassment while they were members of the Grammy-winner’s dance team, with one plaintiff alleging she had been questioned about her weight gain.

In a statement at the time, Lizzo denied the allegations and said, in part: “I am not the villain that people in the media have portrayed me to be these last few days.

“As an artist, I have always been very passionate about what I do.

“I take my music and my performances seriously because at the end of the day, I only want to put out the best art that represents me and my fans.”
