Lynne McGranger: Home and Away star shares health update on toxic overactive thyroid from hospital bed

Veteran actress and Home and Away star Lynne McGranger has shared a personal health update after a significant surgery.

Just days ago, the 71-year-old soap star who is best known for playing the role of Irene Roberts, had surgery for a “toxic overactive thyroid”.

Taking to Instagram, McGranger shared a heartfelt message with fans about her relief, revealing that the procedure had been “a long time coming.”

“It was a long time coming — we (the toxic overactive thyroid) were incompatible and quite frankly I was exhausted,” she wrote.

The surgery, which took place at Mater Hospital North Sydney, marked an essential step in her journey towards better health.

“I want to thank all the amazing people at the Mater Hospital North Sydney for making this giant life step so much easier than it might have been,” she said.

Showering her well-known sense of humour, McGranger extended special thanks to the various staff members involved in her care and apologised for a minor incident.

“With special mention to Prof Sidhu, Dr Michael Morris, Annie, Anna, Karen, and Kenny (sorry about the vom),” she wrote.

“Could not recommend The Mater more highly—what an exceptional example of health care done right!”

The much-loved Home and Away star gave an update on her recovery.

I’m healing well and so far I don’t miss that dirty thyroid one bit!

McGranger was all smiles in her update despite the significant surgery, telling fans to “Stay tuned for scar spam”.
