Cody Simpson has shared a hopeful health update as he nurses a serious injury to his vocal cords following a return to his music career.

The 29-year-old has been on mute since doctors discovered a “serious haemorrhage” on one of his vocal cords last month that rendered him unable to speak or sing.

He took to Instagram to share an update on his injury with his 4.8 million followers, saying that he was “praying for a miracle heal”.

“Okay. She’s healed a lot but needs more time,” he wrote.

“The haemorrhage is gone, but there’s a big damaged blood vessel on the underside of my right vocal cord. We are doing another week of complete silence and praying for a miracle heal.”

The former Olympic swimming hopeful asked his fans to “send me your love” while he thinks about getting surgery — which “looks likely”.

“We will then make a decision on surgery, which is a longer recovery process but also reduces the risk of future complications,” he wrote.

“Don’t know how long this recovery journey is going to be yet or whether surgery will go ahead, but it’s looking likely.”

In the meantime, he announced he had a music surprise for his devoted fans.

“I’ve got the goods I’ve been piling for the project, when I could write and cut vocals. I want you to hear them,” he wrote.

He then posted a video of him lip syncing to an unreleased song, with the lyrics including “Can’t say I miss you so I’ll just stay” and “Sometimes I wish I was wherever you are”.

Fans immediately took to the comments section of the post, asking him to “just drop it already”.

“C’mon, just drop it already!!! Now that we got a taste, we know how it feels to miss it, and we need it,” one fan wrote.

Another wrote: “God, I was so smart for deciding to be a fan of yours as a pre-teen.”

“This is THE song!! Release date?” a third added.

His injury came just weeks after he made a successful return to music with two new singles, Baby Blue and When It Comes to Loving You.

Last week, he told his followers he was continuing to work on his new project with “silent mode sessions”.

“Making music and writing songs not being able to sing or speak is tricky but I’m using it to open up new doors and find other ways to work on and finish this project because everyday is still valuable,” he wrote.
