Iconic Australian music festival Splendour in the Grass has announced it will not be taking place this year.

In a statement shared to social media, the official page revealed it needed “a little more time to recharge” after scrapping last year’s event.

“Hey gang, sorry it’s been so quiet, but we had a little holiday…finally,” the message read.

“The rest of the festival team have still been busy cooking up some awesome new things for music lovers in Australia, but Splendour needs a little more time to recharge and we won’t be back this year.

“Think of it as a breather so we can come back even bigger and better when the time is right.

“Lots of other huge events on the horizon so keep an ear to the ground in the coming months – we can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on!”

The statement comes after organisers made the call to cancel the festival last year due to “unexpected events.”

A source later claimed the festival’s sudden cancellation was due to abysmal ticket sales and high costs.

Artists including Kylie Minogue, G Flip, Hayden James and Future were some of the headline acts in the extensive 2024 lineup.
