Spotify Wrapped: Australia’s favourite music for 2024 revealed

After millions were left waiting, global music streaming giant Spotify has finally released it’s annual most-streamed lists, revealing Australia’s favourite artists, songs, albums and podcasts on the platform.

Spotify Wrapped, an annual year-in-review style campaign is released in November or December and has become a cultural moment, loved by music fans, to round out the year.

Coming in at No.1 as the most-streamed artist in both Australia and across the world was Taylor Swift.

It will likely come as no surprise to many Aussies, especially as the country caught Swift-fever when the singer brought her globally renowned Eras Tour to Sydney and Melbourne this year.

For the most-streamed song, Australia and the world had a different favourite.

Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter came out on top globally, while Australians listened to Beautiful Things by Benson Boone the most.

ABC chairman Kim Williams may be surprised to discover that Australia and the world’s most streamed podcast on the platform was The Joe Rogan Experience.

The chair of the publicly funded broadcaster made headlines in recent weeks when he revealed he was not a fan of Rogan.

“I am not a consumer or enthusiast about Mr Rogan and his work,” Mr Williams said.

He said, acknowledging he was not one of his “three billion” audience.

“I think that people like Mr Rogan prey on people’s vulnerabilities. They prey on fear.”

Users can check their streaming habits for 2024 in the app.
