Tame Impala issues hilarious plea ahead of next week’s Triple J Hottest 100 count

Perth musician Tame Impala has issued a hilarious plea on his Instagram asking fans to vote for his recently-released song Dracula in the upcoming Triple J Hottest 100.
The video shows a young Tame Impala, real name Kevin Parker, getting “kidnapped” and taken to a warehouse where his band members are sat with their hands tied and duct tape over their mouths.
With dramatic music playing, Parker is then strapped to a contraption as a vicious-looking laser is pointed towards his body.

Parker also posted a photo of what appears to be Tame Impala touring member Jay Watson with duct tape across his mouth, with the caption “seriously guys ...”.

In a following slide, he thanked his fans with “all jokes aside” and provided a link to the Triple J voting system.
Dracula, which was released by Tame Impala in September as the third single of the Deadbeat album, has been streamed over 179 million times on Spotify and is among the favourites to win the Hottest 100 count.

Olivia Dean’s Man I Need and Dancing2 by Peking Duk’s Keli Holiday are also strong favourites, as well as Whateverrr by Perth’s own Spacey Jane and WHERE IS MY HUSBAND by RAYE.

If Dracula is successful, it will be Tame Impala’s second Triple J win after he clinched the Hottest 100 of the Decade for the 2010s with his hit song The Less I Know The Better, which has over 2.2 billion streams on Spotify.
Triple J’s Hottest 100 for 2026 will be held on January 24.
