A family influencer has issued an urgent warning about parents carrying their children on their shoulders after her daughter was left with a skull fracture in a horror fall.

Alexa Booth, who is a mum of six and boasts hundreds of thousands of followers across her social media accounts, posted a PSA to her Facebook about the “freak accident” where her young daughter Eden fell from her father’s (Ms Booth’s husband Anthony) shoulders and hit her head which resulted in a fracture to the right parietal region of her skull.

“She flung his hat off his head then flung herself backwards and twisted,” Ms Booth explained.

“People around us audibly heard the sound of her head hitting the ground.

“Even the neurosurgeon was shocked to ‘only’ see a non displaced fracture.”

Ms Booth says her daughter’s accident could have “ended tragically” despite her husband’s experience carrying their children for “nearly a decade”, warning other parents about the shoulder carrying method.

“I know it seems harmless, I know you think you’d ‘never drop them’. . .my husband has carried all six of our children like this,” she said.

“There is NO benefit worth that risk, not the smiles of the giggles, even if you’ve done it a million times before with no issues.

“I’m sharing this not to scare you. . .but to protect you from learning the hard way like we did.”

Ms Booth’s husband Anthony Booth says the sound of his daughter’s head hitting the concrete “haunts” him and that he will “never forgive” himself for her injuries.

“It is only by the grace of God that she is alright and still with us,” Mr Booth said.

“I will never again put a child on my shoulders without a carrier or harness.”

Parents flocked to the comments of the US-based influencer, sharing their experiences and fear of their children falling while being carried on their shoulders.

“This is one of the things, along with tossing them in the air, that I BEG my husband not to do,” one commenter said.

“I hope your little one recovers so fully and completely that your husband’s guilt melts away.”

“Sending you so much love,” another commenter said.
