Australia’s Isla Fisher has described her divorce from fellow actor Sacha Baron-Cohen as “the most difficult thing that I’ve been through” and says she’s not ready to start dating again.

The high-profile pair announced last year they’d split in 2023 after more than 20 years together.

“I’ve learnt so much about myself in the process. I never imagined my family being separated but we are committed and loving parents,” she said.

“We are building a new, healthy version of what our family looks like and putting as much care and love into it as possible.”

The couple, who met in 2001 in Australia, have two daughters and a son.

In an interview with the UK’s The Sunday Times the 49-year-old paid tribute to other women in the film industry.

“The women in my life have held me,”Fisher said and made special shout out to long-time pal, Friends star Courtney Cox.

“The female relationships that I cultivated in our business, those women have been there for me.

“I’m actually going to get emotional. I’m sitting here today because of them.

“I’ve learnt so much about the power of female friendship and I’ve just learnt that I do have resilience, who I am outside of a partnership, and what my values are. It’s been this expansive learning curve.”

The Wedding Crashers is also drawing on her parents divorce when she was 9. “It was very harmonious,” she told The Times. “I don’t ever remember them fighting about anything. They were very inclusive of each other. That’s the dream.”

When asked about dating the mother of three said: “That’s not on my to-do list. I’m not ready to think about any of that.”

Perth-raised Fisher lives in the UK and has small role in Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, which is to be released in cinemas this week. She is currently appearing on Australian screens in an Air New Zealand commercial.
