Chris Martin, lead singer of the rock band Coldplay, has accidentally exposed an alleged affair during a recent concert.

During a performance at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts, a venue that holds over 65,000 people, the odds of appearing on the big screen are slim.

But for Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, luck wasn’t on his side.

Midway through the Wednesday night show, Mr Byron and his colleague Kristin Cabot were unexpectedly thrust into the international spotlight as Martin introduced the crowd to the stadium’s Kiss Cam.

As the camera scanned the audience, it landed on Mr Byron, seen with his arms around Ms Cabot, Astronomer’s Chief People Officer, who is not his wife.

When the camera focused on the couple, they were both startled. Mr Byron dashed out of the camera’s view, while Ms Cabot turned away and shielded her face.

“Oh look at these two. Come on, you’re okay. Oh, what? Either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy,” Martin commented as the crowd roared with laughter.

As the video went viral on social media, internet sleuths were able to track down the identities of Mr Byron and Ms Cabot, as well as Mr Byron’s actual wife — Megan Kerrigan Byron.

According to reports, the mother of two removed “Byron” from her Facebook profile name before deactivating the account.

The video has prompted a range of reactions online.

One user on X wrote, “Taking the side chick to a Coldplay concert and getting exposed for it by the band itself and it going viral is crazy work.”

“I hope his wife divorces him and takes him for everything he has,” another wrote.

Astronomer is a software development company reportedly valued over $1 billion ($AU1.5b).
