Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter Zahara cuts major tie to her famous father
Four of the former-couple’s six children have now taken the dramatic step.
Another of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s children has taken steps to distance herself from their famous father.
According to court documents obtained by People magazine, the former couple’s oldest daughter Zahara has officially dropped her father’s surname.
The filings show a California judge approved the name change without objection, with the 21-year-old now going by Zahara Marley Jolie instead of Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt.

Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September 2016 after two years of marriage and 12 years together.
Their lengthy divorce was finalised in December 2024, though legal disputes, including a battle over their French winery, and family estrangements have continued to make headlines.
According to People, Zahara filed a petition in June to drop Pitt from her last name, around the same time her brother Maddox took the same legal step.
In July, both siblings confirmed their intent by publishing legal notices in the Los Angeles Daily Journal in accordance with California law.
Jolie and Pitt’s relationship began on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2004 and evolved into one of Hollywood’s most high-profile romances before ending in a drawn-out divorce.
In an August interview with Esquire magazine, Pitt admitted while he has struggled with his own demons, his general optimistic outlook on life saved him from self-destruction.
“I was never suicidal in any way. It just was not my makeup. In fact, if I have any afflictions, it’s probably being a congenital optimist,” Pitt said.
“And in that one little period, I just thought — I just couldn’t — just didn’t see a way out”.
Pitt said “incredible survival instincts” kicked in and stopped him from acting on his dark thoughts.
While Pitt hasn’t gone into the details about this difficult period in his life, he has revealed his most painful moments are related to “family stuff”.
Since their split, four of Pitt and Jolie’s children have dropped Pitt from their last names, with Zaraha joining Shiloh, Maddox and Vivienne in taking the step.
