Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster step out hand-in-hand for a dinner date in Los Angeles.

Deborra-Lee Furness was spotted on a rare public outing just hours after it was revealed she was in “peace talks” with her ex-husband, Hugh Jackman.

The 69-year-old was seen out on a solo walk in New York City on Wednesday, dressed down in a black sweater and pants, paired with a red beanie, and a hoodie that was tied around her waist.

The actor accessorised with a black fanny pack, and two pairs of glasses clipped to her collar.

The walk came just hours after an insider revealed Furness had been working hard to get past her feelings of anger toward Jackman so her kids don’t suffer.

“It’s been two years now since they officially separated and it really is time to let the hatred and anger go,” the insider told RadarOnline.com

“Hugh has been trying to make peace with Debs for a long while now, but as you can imagine, it has taken her time to feel ready.

“Settling all the legal stuff seems to have helped because she’s finally coming around – they’ve gotten together a couple of times in New York recently to talk things out, and by all accounts things have improved dramatically, which is fantastic for everyone, most of all their kids.”

In late August, Furness was seen cosying up to long-time friend Nicholas Evans, with the pair warmly embracing while sharing a smile.

The duo are co-founders of child advocate organisation Hopeland, and are believed to have known each other for 11 years.

“It’s having long-time friends like Nick rallying around her that’s helping Deb get back on her feet,” a source close to the friends told New Idea.

“Getting a divorce has been a huge life adjustment, and now Deb’s a very rich and single lady; she’s making sure she’s got a solid network watching her back.”

Meanwhile, Furness’ ex, Jackman, appeared alongside good friend Ryan Reynolds at Wednesday’s screening of John Candy: I Like Me in Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre.

The former WAAPA student sparked minor concern among fans when appearing on stage sporting a band-aid above his left eye.

Producers on the documentary film also included Colin Hanks, with the expansive cast featuring the likes of Steve Martin, Martin Short and Bill Murray.

Jackman has been less public of about his relationship with fellow Broadway actor Sutton Foster of late, after the pair publicly stepped out as a couple in January 2025.

The couple are believed to have sparked their romance on set of the 2022 theatre production of The Music Man.

Furness and Jackman separated in 2023 after a 27-year marriage.
