A haunting interview just months before Hayden Panettiere’s sudden death revealed she was optimistic about her future.

The 36-year-old, who starred in Heroes, Nashville and Scream, passed away on Sunday evening.

Her father confirmed the heartbreaking news on Monday morning, saying “she was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen”.

Her cause of death has not yet been confirmed but TMZ are reporting police were called to an incident involving Ms Panettiere on Sunday and there is an open investigation.

During a sit-down chat with podcaster Jay Shetty in May — where she spoke about her tell-all memoir This Is Me: A Reckoning — Ms Panettiere said she finally felt free of her struggles and had “a lot more life to live”.

“I finally feel like I have shaken off all of this this darkness and this negativity,” she said.

“And that means I’ve closed one door and another door is opened and and and I can feel it opened and and I can feel all the possibility, all the possibilities, all the exciting possibilities.

“I’ve I feel like I have a lot more life to live.”

She said by being open about her struggles with postpartum depression, addiction and her sexuality, she hoped to help others going through similar things.

“I want what I have gone through to be for a reason. Everything to have happened for a reason. And and for that reason to be to help people to help people go through whatever it is, whatever challenges they’re facing and to know that it’s it’s possible.”

Her death is still under investigation, but police confirmed there were no signs of foul play.

Greenville Police Department explained they responded to a call about an unresponsive female about 1.50pm on Sunday.

“Upon arrival, medical assistance was administered; however, the individual, later identified as Hayden Panettiere, was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the department said in a statement.

“The case is under investigation by the Greenville Police Department in conjunction with the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.

“The preliminary investigation has not indicated any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances. An acquaintance of Ms Panettiere placed the 911 call.”
