What had been touted as a rare MAFS success story will not receive its fairytale ending after reality star Stella Mickunaite confirmed fiance Filip Gregov had ended their relationship.

Departing their 2026 TV experiment as a happy couple, reports had swirled earlier this week that the pair had gone their separate ways.

On Tuesday, Stella shared her truth with her 212k Instagram followers in an emotional story post, admitting she had been left “heartbroken” by Filip’s decision.

“I never imagined I’d be writing something like this, but I feel it’s important to share my truth,” she began.

“Filip ended our relationship. While he had clearly been processing that decision for some time, I genuinely believed we were working towards the same future. I was completely blindsided.”

With Stella based in Sydney and Filip’s life in Melbourne, the pair hadn’t yet sorted a clear plan for their future.

However, Stella said she had been actively working towards relocating and required time to organise several elements of her life.

“One thing I do want to clarify is that, despite what was shown on the show, I had made the decision to move to Melbourne. I own a business that I’ve spent years building, so it wasn’t as simple as packing a suitcase. I needed a few months to wrap things up, end leases and put everything in place before relocating,” she continued.

“As our relationship grew, I believed moving to Melbourne made the most sense for us. It offered more family support, better work opportunities for Filip and a more affordable place for us to build a life together.

“I’ve always been realistic about my biological clock, and starting a family has been something I’ve hoped for for a long time. I genuinely thought we were making those decisions together.

“Instead, I received a phone call ending our relationship. I am heartbroken, deeply saddened and, if I’m honest, incredibly embarrassed that something I believed in so wholeheartedly didn’t work out the way I had hoped. While I respect that everyone has the right to choose what’s best for them, I also feel it’s important that the facts are clear.”

Stella thanked those who had reached out with messages of support over the difficult period.

Fans of the show may be surprised with the sudden turn of events, as just a couple of months earlier the pair had been speaking to Women’s Day regarding their shared future.

“Ideally, it would be amazing to get married next year,” Stella said.

“But it’s also real life. It’s also the bills. We’re not exempt from anything.”

Filip conceded the pair were learning to live normal lives away from the spotlight.

“It’s been amazing coming out after the experiment, but it’s been a massive dopamine detox, I’ll be honest,” he said.

“A big crash after a big high. But life’s good. We’re just going about it.”

Days before Stella’s break-up confirmation, Daily Mail reported that her fiance had chosen to end their relationship for several reasons.

“It was ultimately Filip who decided to end things. He’d been wrestling with it for a while and eventually realised they just weren’t on the same page about what they wanted out of life,” a source close to Filip told the publication.

“There wasn’t some huge explosive fight. It was more of a slow realisation that they were heading in different directions.”

The insider said Stella “wanted a partner who could really support her financially”, and that she didn’t feel Filip would be able to support the lifestyle she desired.

“People around them had noticed the distance for a little while . . . they were living quite separate lives,” the source said.
