Many things can go wrong for a dolled-up beauty pageant performer on stage, but few watching the Miss Grand Thailand event earlier this week would have expected false teeth falling out of a contestant’s mouth to be one of them.

Sadly for Thai beauty Kamolwan Chanago, the nightmare became a reality as footage of the shocking incident soon went viral.

Dressed in a showgirl-inspired outfit featuring a feathery shawl and sequin-encrusted frock, Ms Chanago addressed the crowd with her opening remarks before her veneers suddenly became loose, catching them as she turned away from the audience.

Quickly regaining her composure, the fierce competitor swivelled her head back towards onlookers as she shook off the regrettable moment and began strutting down the runway as if nothing had happened.

The supportive crowd cheered as Ms Chanago showed little sign her confidence was shot, opening her mouth once again to unveil her beaming smile.

The incident occurred during the preliminary round of judging, with the winner to be crowned on Saturday.

Ms Chanago represented the province of Pathum Thani, a central region in Thailand.

Miss Grand Thailand was founded in 2013 by Nawat Itsaragrisil, a television host and producer behind Miss Thailand World.

This weekend’s pageant victor will fly the flag for the nation at Miss Grand International 2026 which is scheduled to take place in India in October.

Emma Tiglao of the Phillipines claimed the global crown in 2025, which was held in Bangkok.
