Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor exchanged some flirty banter on stage at the Oscars, proving they still have their on-screen chemistry.

The pair are preparing to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their hit movie musical Moulin Rouge!, where McGregor’s character Christian falls in love with Kidman’s Satine.

The actors reunited at this year’s Oscars to present the award for Best Picture, that ultimately went to One Battle After Another, which won a total of six golden statues.

Before Kidman announced the winner, she mentioned how she really “adored” all the films nominated for the night’s final award, which prompted McGregor to ask if she’d say she “loved” them.

The question triggered a back-and-forth of songs with love in the title, including, Love Is Like Oxygen by Sweet, Love Is A Many Splendored Thing by Andy Williams, and Love Lifts Us Up Where We Belong by Jennifer Warnes and Joe Cocker.

“But I have to say, Nicole, even though it’s been 25 years, every time I hear the word ‘love’ I still imagine someone is going to lower a chandelier and cue the orchestra,” McGregor quipped, to which Kidman responded, “Ooh, don’t tempt me”.

And as McGregor segued into the introduction of the category’s nominations, he and Kidman homed in on their love fest by singing the chorus of All You Need Is Love by the Beatles.

Throughout the interaction, Kidman touched McGregor’s chin with both also linking arms.

After the 2001 film came out it became a pop cultural phenomenon, earning eight Academy Award nominations, including one for Best Picture.

Kidman’s latest project sees her star in thriller TV series Scarpetta while McGregor was last on the screen in 2024 miniseries A Gentleman in Moscow.
