Hugh Jackman has launched a new live theatre company with Broadway producer Sonia Friedman.

The company — called TOGETHER — is dedicated to producing intimate live theatre “where established actors will perform just feet from the audience”.

The 56-year-old shared the news with his 34.2 million followers on Wednesday, saying the company is all about taking risks and experimenting.

“With director Ian Rickson, we wanted to create a company where actors, writers and directors could experiment, explore, and take risks, away from the pressure that are often associated with the commercial theatre world,” Jackman and Friedman said.

“TOGETHER is about going back to basics, rediscovering the simple, thrilling essence of live performance.

They said the move wasn’t about stepping away from Broadway or the West End, but about “supporting and coexisting alongside them”.

The career move has shifted the attention from Jackman’s personal life which has been making headlines ever since his divorce two years ago.

After months of tension between Jackman and his ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness, it was reported earlier this week that the the former couple are set to reunite.

According to New Idea, the exes — who split in September 2023 after 27 years of marriage — are planning to meet up in New York to talk through issues so they can amicably co-parent their children Oscar and Ava.

A “well-place source” told the media outlet that the former couple have “very little interest in waging a public war against each other”.
