Powderfinger sparks reunion rumours with cryptic billboards and new social media account
‘Please don’t mess with me! I’m going to be sick.’

Cryptic billboards and a mysterious new social media account have sparked speculation that iconic Australian rock band Powderfinger could be planning a surprise reunion.
Digital billboards have appeared across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane featuring a cryptic cipher highlighting a series of numbers that appear to reference the band: “ALBUMS: 7, FLIGHTS: 33, CREW: 235, MEMBERS: 5.”
Reunion rumours started in early October with the creation of a new Instagram called The Return Of The Electric Horsemen.

The band’s official Instagram has also followed the mysterious new account, which has been sharing details of the billboards appearing around the country.

Powderfinger formed in Brisbane in 1989 and went on to become one of Australia’s most successful alternative rock bands.
From 1992 until their split in 2010, the line-up consisted of lead vocalist Bernard Fanning, guitarists Darren Middleton and Ian Haug, bassist John Collins and drummer Jon Coghill.
The band announced their break-up after completing their Sunsets Farewell Tour, playing their final public concert at Brisbane’s Riverstage in November 2010, where they closed out an emotional 20-song set with their classic hit These Days.
A decade later, Powderfinger temporarily reunited for the 2020 charity livestream One Night Lonely but stressed at the time the reunion was strictly a one-off.
Now, the cryptic billboards and social media activity have fans wondering whether the band could finally be preparing for a full comeback.
“Please don’t mess with me! I’m going to be sick…. I can’t handle the thought of this actually happening,” one fan commented on Instagram.
“Can’t wait for Powderfinger’s return! It’s been way too long,” another wrote.
Powderfinger is one of the most successful and decorated alternative rock bands in Australian music history.

Over their 21-year career, the Brisbane-formed group dominated the local charts, achieving five consecutive number one studio albums and winning a total of 28 major industry awards.
They are celebrated as the second-most awarded band in ARIA history, trailing only Silverchair.
Some of their biggest hits include ARIA Award-winning and fan-favourite tracks My Happiness, These Days and (Baby I’ve Got You) On My Mind.
