Princess of Wales reveals she no longer drinks alcohol since cancer scare
The Princess of Wales says she has had to give up something she once enjoyed during a whirlwind day out in London with William.
The Princess of Wales has revealed she’s cut back on drinking since her cancer diagnosis as she visited a brewery with Prince William.
On a visit to London’s Bermondsey Beer Mile, a well-known route of independent breweries and taprooms in the city, Kate asked a brewery founder whether they did any non-alcoholic beers but the answer was no.
The princess is in remission after being diagnosed with cancer in 2024, and undergoing chemotherapy.

“Since my diagnosis I haven’t had much alcohol,” she said.
“It’s something I have to be a lot more conscious of now.”
Catherine then said to William: “But you like your cider, don’t you?”
The princess asked about Fabal Beerhall’s use of raw honey in its drinks, prompting William to say Kate keeps bees, and jokingly warn the brewery founder: “Be careful what you say, you might be corrected.”
In a busy day for the royal couple on Thursday, UK time, they were also declared the winners in an impromptu pint-pulling contest against the founder of another brewery.
Southwark Brewing Company founder Peter Jackson coached the couple through the process and seemed impressed with the final result, saying, “you come back on Saturday for a shift”.
The couple wished Jackson’s son happy birthday on a video call, with the prince explaining: “We’re just in here trying not to ruin his brewery. We’ve just beaten him in a pint-pulling contest.”
Jackson added: “They did.”

The couple later donned overalls and caps to travel by a Royal National Lifeboat Institution lifeboat to visit the charity’s busiest station, in the heart of London on the River Thames.
Both took the wheel during the journey to the RNLI Tower station, where they met volunteer crews and delivered gifts and sweet treats.
William and Kate chatted to RNLI lifeguards and members of the Bridge Watch, a mental health charity providing a presence on bridges for people in crisis.
