Australian TV star Sophie Monk has revealed she and her husband Joshua Gross have “tried lots of times” for a baby, candidly expressing her hope of becoming a mother at 46.

While the Love Island Australia host told the Daily Mail she is hesitant to divulge too much about the topic, becoming a parent is still something she sees for herself.

“It’s hard because it’s two of us,” she said of the couple’s hope for a child.

“But we’ve tried lots of times.”

“I wish someone would just drop a baby off for me at the front door. And I’d be like, ‘Oh gosh, it’s fine’”, Monk joked.

For someone who has spent more than two decades making Australians laugh through a screen, the admission offers a glimpse inside the private heartbreak of the much-loved personality.

“I think life can be too tough out there sometimes,” Monk added.

Monk has previously spoken about her IVF journey after she underwent two egg retrieval procedures in 2018 and 2022.

She underwent her second procedure on her 43rd birthday in December 2022, sharing an update from her hospital bed at the time.

“It’s my birthday and I just had an operation to get some eggs, and we got a lot which is great,” she told fans.

Gross, whom Monk married in an intimate backyard ceremony at their NSW home in March 2022, remains her biggest supporter in all walks of life.

The couple recently celebrated their eighth anniversary with a romantic trip to Fiji.

“He reminds me it’s just a job,” Monk said of the perspective Gross brings to her work life.

“He’s just giving me heaps more confidence.”

She described how Gross encourages her to worry less about everyday things by reminding her that the people occupying her thoughts are probably not thinking about her in return.

“That person’s not even thinking about you,” she recalled him saying.

“And I was like, ‘Cool, okay. That’s right. Probably not.’”

Monk also opened up about trust and finances, having recently been embroiled in legal disputes involving her former management team.

When asked about her most costly financial mistake, Monk said it was trusting people with her money.

“I trust people like you could trust me. I would never take a dollar off anyone.

“That’s been my biggest flaw. I haven’t learned it, actually. I keep doing it every time.”
