An internal police planning memo has revealed details of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s big day, with roads closed for a private, two-day event.

NEW YORK — Hundreds of police officers are expected to be on patrol and roads will be closed in midtown Manhattan for a private, two-day event at Madison Square Garden around the wedding of Taylor Swift, according to interviews and an internal police planning memo.
Beginning Thursday, officers from the New York Police Department, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department and Amtrak police will be deployed around the Garden for the event, which is described in the memo as a celebration of Swift’s wedding to Travis Kelce.
The events are closed to the public. The couple has invited about 100 people to a rehearsal dinner at the Infosys Theater, a venue inside the Garden, on Thursday around 6 p.m., according to an internal police memo with details about the gatherings.

A spokesperson for the Police Department said plans for the event have not been finalised.

During a news conference about the city’s Fourth of July preparations, Jessica Tisch, the police commissioner, acknowledged there was “an event that we are tracking at Madison Square Garden on Friday night,” but declined to address the matter further.
“The NYPD will of course have a detail in place, but I’m not going to go into more specifics at this time,” she said during the news conference, where she appeared with Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
In an interview with 1010 WINS, Mr Mamdani said the city was prepared for crowds, “whether they’re going to be outside of Madison Square Garden, or they’re going to be gathering outside any of the viewing sites for the Fourth of July fireworks.”

On Friday, as many as 1,000 guests are expected to arrive at the Garden for a larger celebration, with possible stage appearances, according to the memo. The doors to the arena will open around 4pm. for a cocktail hour on the sixth floor, followed by “a wedding and reception in the arena” beginning around 5.30pm, the memo says. The event is expected to end around 2am.
Swift has also applied for permits to close nearby streets, according to the two people familiar with the plans. On Friday, those are expected to include West 31st and West 33rd streets bordering the Garden.
A police detail is planned for the rehearsal dinner Thursday, according to a law enforcement official familiar with the plan.
