Triple J and Australian voters are already facing backlash on social media for their choice of music.
“I mean I bloody love this song but I wish there was more Aussies in the countdown for me to appreciate it more ❤️❤️❤️,” one user commented to triple j’s Instagram.
Another wrote: “I think the countdown this year has really gone to show how the Aussie music has been affected in the past few years. while this is a democratic vote, i think this goes to show how the Aussie music scene needs to be protected and promoted.”
“Another artist who probably doesn’t even know what the Hottest 100 is and won’t give a toss about winning ☠️,” a third commented.
