Trisha Paytas says she’s considering running for Congress in 2026 after ‘vivid dream’

Internet personality Trisha Paytas has set her sights on an unexpected new venture: politics.
In a YouTube video titled 2026 MANIFESTATIONS, uploaded on January 6, the 37-year-old content creator told fans that she would “love to run” for a seat in the US House of Representatives representing California.
Paytas, who lives in the state with her husband, Moses Hacmon, and their three children, recorded the revelation in her car.

“I really want to be able to truly make a difference because I see so much horrible stuff happening in the world, and happening right here in California as well.”
The influencer followed up later that day with a TikTok, offering a little more detail about her political aspirations. In the post, Paytas joked that she was “currently Googling” how to run for Congress and shared the bizarre way the idea came to her.
“The idea of me being representative for the state of California came to me in a dream, in a vision if you will. It’s so vivid to me.”
Paytas went on to explain that motherhood has changed her perspective on the world. Since welcoming her first child in 2022, she said she’s grown anxious about “watching the world just crumble, little by little,” and wants to do something about it.
“I never thought of myself as a political person until I started having kids and realising, like, the world could be just so disastrous, dystopian for real by the time they get to be adults,” she told her followers.
“I was like, ‘Alright Trish, enough just, like, shutting it out, being ignorant’. A lot of it was protecting my mental health.”
The longtime YouTuber also began outlining what some of her policies might look if she ever finds herself in Congress.
One of her key proposals, she explained, would be to raise the legal age of participating in adult entertainment to 25.
“That’s one, but I have so many other agendas,” she said.
When it comes to messaging, Paytas already has a campaign slogan in mind: “California could be good”.
“Just need to figure out a better system for everyone and everything. I’m looking into it,” she added.
Paytas has built a massive online following through her mix of pop culture commentary and unfiltered vlogs that chronicle every aspect of her life.
After starting her YouTube channel in 2007, she has amassed over 5 million subscribers, while her TikTok and Instagram audiences together top 13 million.
If Paytas decides to make her congressional dreams come true, she’ll need to file paperwork, gather signatures, and either pay a $US1740 ($2588) filing fee or collect 1740 signatures in lieu of payment by March 6.
Alternatively, she could throw her hat in as a write-in candidate in the primary election in June, though she’d have to finish first or second to advance to the general election in November.
It’s not the first time Paytas has surprised fans with a bold declaration, but this one might be her most ambitious yet.
She wouldn’t be the only unexpected name stepping into politics, either. Earlier this week, former reality television personality Spencer Press announced his run for mayor of Los Angeles.
