I know for a fact my gen Z niece’s generation live in fear of this very thing — it’s why they’re all so well behaved.
Instead of being out there, doing jelly shots from someone’s belly button, chugging Jaegerbombs or collapsing into bushes, they’re busy being “very mindful, very demure” as they navigate early adulthood. They fear being snapped and becoming “internet famous” — and, honestly, who can blame them?
It was with this in mind that I reflected on the trailer I just watched for the upcoming Raygun documentary, Breaking Badly.
In it, the academic-turned-B-girl-turned-Olympian-turned-national-embarrassment speaks of going to see her therapist ahead of her debut at last year’s Olympics, where she competed for Australia in the newly created category of breakdancing.
She was starting to feel concerned, but her shrink reassured her, saying, “what’s the worst that could happen?”
Famous last words.
This doco has been done with Rachael “Raygun” Gunn’s full co-operation, and is produced by the people behind another excellent doco, Wild Wild Country — this bodes well.
I’ll be watching through slitted fingers — and thanking myself lucky I don’t take my life advice from Rachel’s psychologist.
Dark Matter S2

I’m fascinated by the concept of multiverses. They’re having their moment in the sun right now, thanks to the Big Bang Theory spin-off series Stuart Fails To Save The Universe, and this great drama, starring Jennifer Connelly and Joel Edgerton.
Edgerton plays a physicist who is kidnapped one night and ends up in a parallel version of his life. He’s invented a box that allows him to travel between realms, and the story follows his desperate attempts to get back to his original life.
Season two mines new territory separate from the book it’s based on, and it’s shaping up to be just as compelling.
Australian Story Live: Celebrating 30 Years
Monday, 8pm, ABC
This fabulous Aussie institution, which won a Logie a few weeks ago, recently turned the big 3-0. Its celebration event at the Sydney Opera House was recorded and will be broadcast as an extended episode. Adore this show.
The Gentlemen
Thursday, streaming on Netflix
Guy Ritchie returns to write and direct this second season, which sees Eddie Horniman (Theo James) going all-in to run the family’s drug empire. Downton Abbey’s Hugh Bonneville joins the cast. Can’t wait!
Chad Powers S2
Thursday, streaming on Disney Plus
Glen Powell is back in his prosthetics to play Russ Holliday, the disgraced former Oregon quarterback who disguised himself as Chad Powers to claw back his career. This show is so utterly stupid — one for fans of irreverent humour.
