An Australian bride has been left furious just a month before her wedding, and she’s pointing the finger at one of Sydney’s most high-end bridal boutiques.

In an emotional video that quickly went viral on TikTok, but has since been archived, Jade Zane tearfully described what she called a “nightmare” experience with The Ivory Room Bridal in Paddington.

“I spent almost $15,000 on my dream dress from there, and it has come and it is massive,” she said through tears.

The 37-year-old went on to explain that the sizing issue wasn’t minor, saying the dress was “not just a little off but eight centimetres too big in the chest alone.”

“I’m heartbroken. I’ve been quoted $4,000 in alterations just to make it wearable,” she claimed.

Ms Zane said she initially tried to be understanding and thought that perhaps the boutique had mistakenly sent her the wrong dress.

But when she reached out to the boutique via email to express her concerns, she was brushed off.

“The reply was so generic they pretty much told me ‘that’s just how it is’ and ‘you’ll have to alter it yourself,’” she said.

“I emailed them again telling them it wasn’t good enough and that they were in the wrong and I’ve had no response.”

Another bride-to-be told news.com.au that she too had a negative experience with the luxury bridal shop, claiming she was only given a “short amount of time” to pick out a wedding dress.

“They rushed this whole process and made me feel like they just needed to get me through and were more focused on the time than actually helping me find my dream dress.”

The bride, who hasn’t been named, said she chose Ivory Room Bridal because a lot of influencers had bought their wedding dresses there.

The boutique, which has been in operation for just five years, promises a high-end experience according to their website.

With dresses priced between $5,000 and $17,000, expectations for a flawless experience are understandably high.

In a six-minute video addressing the situation, Ivory Room founder Nicole O’Connor described the incident as “absolutely devastating” to witness.

“All of our designers’ dresses are made to the closest size – not to a bride’s exact measurements. We advise our brides at multiple points that alterations are always required to achieve a personalised fit,” Ms O’Connor told news.com.au.

“It is further explained that any alterations are not included in the price of a dress and as such, are an additional cost to the customer.

“This is not only because gowns come to standard size/split size but also because a bride’s measurements may change in the time between measurement, order and dress delivery six months prior to the wedding date.

“We clearly explain all of these points in all appointments, confirm in the post-appointment quote email, and clarify in the terms of our contract, which all brides are required to read and sign prior to placing their order.

Ms O’Connor said Ms Zane was measured on 23 November last year and the dress came in the size ordered.

Ms Zane picked up her dress on 14 May, but it wasn’t until 25 June that she raised concern with the sizing and cost of alterations required, according to Ms O’Connor.

After posting a series of videos on TikTok on Thursday ousting the boutique, Ms Zane has said both parties had agreed to archive their posts and meet in person on Friday to “hopefully reach a resolution.”

“I want to be clear, my intention was never to tear down a business. I simply wanted to be heard and treated fairly. That said, I also stand by my experience and how deeply this situation has affected me in the lead up to my wedding,” she added.

Ms Zane said she is hopeful that there will be a positive outcome.
