Australia’s food safety watchdog has pulled two products from supermarket shelves across the country over fears of undeclared allergens.

Food Standards Australia and New Zealand issued a recall notice for Chen Foods Mr Chen’s Szechuan Chilli Oil 250g after it was discovered the product’s label did not disclose the presence of peanuts.

“The product label does not declare peanut as an allergen in the ‘Contains’ statement,” the notice read.

Consumers with a peanut allergy who have purchased a jar impacted by the recall and marked with the date 04/12/2026 and 07/04/2027 and 11/12/2027 are advised to avoid eating it or risk suffering a reaction.

“Consumers who have a peanut allergy or intolerance should not consume this product.” the statement continued.

“Any consumers who have a peanut allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed.”

Shoppers are urged to return any affected batches of the product to the place or purchase for a full refund.

The recall comes as another food product was removed from IGA stores and independent retailers in QLD after an undeclared allergen was found.

Packages of the banana bread that are labelled with the use by dates of 05/08/26 and 12/08/26 have been removed from shelves after egg was not declared.
