If you’ve spent any time on YouTube, you’ll no doubt have heard of MrBeast.

The mega-rich internet personality, otherwise known as Jimmy Donaldson, is famous for his videos of various high-stakes gameshow-style challenges, though one of his latest upload may well be the most cringeworthy yet for supercar fans.

In the 14-second long clip, MrBeast sets out to simply determine how many rolls of duct tape it takes to stop a Lamborghini Gallardo by increasing the thickness of a wall made out of the stuff each time the car drives through it.

He figures out that 25,001 is indeed the magic number, but the Lamborghini is barely recognisable by the end of it.

MrBeast exponentially increases the thickness of the tape wall between each pass of the Lambo – though saying he was involved may be generous given he appears to have been plopped into the video after everything had been filmed.

After starting with one roll, then 10, 100, 1000, and so on, it isn’t until the 10,000 mark that the Gallardo takes a serious hit. Its bonnet and side mirrors are ripped off, but that isn’t enough to stop it.

The 15,000th roll makes for more like a crash, with the car’s front-end severely damaged by the impact. Then with 25,000 rolls the car appears to get stuck in the wall, prompting the video crew to add just one more roll.

At a significantly lower speed than before, the ruined Lamborghini trundles up to the wall and is understandably halted with a small bump.

If the car is in fact the Gallardo LP 560-4, it would have been made between 2008 and 2013. It’s powered by a 380kW V10 and cost $198,000 in the United States when new.

It’s also likely that more than 40,000 rolls of duct tape were used in total, which — depending on the price per roll — may well have cost upwards of US$100,000 (A$155,000) alone.

To add insult to the wasteful injury, MrBeast’s team couldn’t even be bothered with a description for the video. Since it was uploaded on November 9, it has amassed more than 186 million views — a significant portion of MrBeast’s 330 million subscriber count.
