Newly released Parramatta Eels star Zac Lomax snaps up Illawarra property

Newly released Parramatta Eels player Zac Lomax has also been making moves in the property world.

The former St George Illawarra Dragons star has reportedly snapped up another home in the Illawarra.

This follows the now former Eels outside back being granted an immediate release from the club to "pursue opportunities outside the NRL".

The Eels confirmed the winger's release in a statement on Sunday.

Lomax had been linked with a lucrative move to the rebel rugby union competition R360.

Lomax had three years remaining on his Parramatta deal worth an estimated $650,000 per season. Media reports indicate that he's expected to earn at least double that amount if he joins R360.

Suitably cashed up, according to industry sources, he recently bought a three-bedroom home at Barrack Point for about $4 million.

The selling agent, Amanda Bonnici from Ray White Shellharbour City declined to comment on the sale or the identity of the buyer when contacted by the Mercury.

Cotality records show the home was sold after 58 days on the market.

Lomax's property portfolio

This isn't the State of Origin representative's first foray into the property world, either.

In 2018, the then-rookie Lomax bought his first property, spending $650,000 on a two-bedroom apartment in Wollongong.

The first-floor apartment was located in the Stadia complex. It was later listed for rent at $650 per week.

However, Cotality records show Lomax sold the property in 2023 for $750,000.

In 2021, Lomax snapped up a new home at Shell Cove, setting a short-lived suburb record in the process.

Lomax bought the four-bedroom, three-bathroom home for $2.2 million.

Features of the home include double-glazed windows and doors; polished concrete floors to living areas; in-ground pool with frameless pool fencing; and a home theatre.

The home also features a granny flat-style guest bedroom on the lower floor, with ensuite.

Lomax reportedly bought the property due to its lifestyle and location, including being within walking distance of the marina and Shellharbour Village.

He also retained ownership of the home after signing with Parramatta.

Also, earlier this year, a home formerly owned by Lomax in Mangerton was sold under the hammer.

The four-bedroom home, which sits on 569 square metres, changed hands for $1.37 million.

It features a large entertaining deck off the main living area, providing views over the escarpment, as well as a family room featuring a fireplace, a renovated bathroom, and an in-ground pool in the backyard.

Cotality records show that in 2020, during his tenure at the Dragons, Lomax bought the Mangerton property for $890,000.

Less than 18 months later, he sold the home for $1.2 million.
