Owner of fashion label Dissh drops $9.3 million on regional hilltop estate

The CEO and creative director of Australian fashion label Dissh has forked out more than $9 million to secure a hilltop farm with panoramic ocean views near Byron Bay.
Lucy Henry-Hicks and her partner Mitchell Lau emerged as the buyers of the 6.8-acre estate in Newrybar, which counts Australian film actor Liam Hemsworth among its residents.

The Lanes, who sold The Ranch at Coopers Shoot for $33.6 million in 2023 and Bangalow estate Copperstone for $27.5 million last year, bought the property in Newrybar in 2023 for $8.3 million with plans to remodel it into a luxury retreat.

Those plans were scrapped and the couple decided to put it back on the market with listing agent Ruth Gotterson.
"High View and its unrivalled panoramic views promise an unparalleled beachside experience, in the ultimate lifestyle location," the listing reads.

"As the highest point on the ocean-facing ridge from Byron Bay's iconic Lighthouse to Lennox Head, High View offers what literally no other property does in the locale - a one-of-a-kind building precedent no longer seen, situating the main residence right out to the ridgeline for views to die for."

High View comprises five bedrooms and five bathrooms across a main house and two villas.
Inside, the home features gable end windows, vaulted ceilings, polished timber floors, wood-burning fireplaces and a wrap-around verandah.
Other features include a resort-style swimming pool and spa and horse stables.

The property has concept plans for a luxury residence designed by architecture firm MORQ.
The multi-million-dollar transaction is the latest in a prestige property spending spree that saw the couple drop $40 million on a beachside block on the Gold Coast in 2024.

It set a record as the most expensive residential property purchase in Palm Beach.
The 1525 square metre property is the amalgamation of three blocks sold in one line, including a 1960s-era beach shack, a villa and a timber pole house on Fourth Avenue and Jefferson Lane.

Cotality records show two of the three blocks are owned by Henry-Hicks and Lau, including a four-bedroom, two-bathroom property on 870 square metres that sold for $25.3 million.
A neighbouring three-bedroom, two-bathroom property that fetched $3.2 million is also held in their names.

The third property included in the sale sold for more than $11.5 million, taking the total transaction up to $40 million.
According to reports, the three blocks were sold by former Sydney Swans AFL player and property investor Tony Smith.

Henry-Hicks and Lau plan to build two dwellings on the site to create a sprawling beachfront compound across three titles.
The couple are cashed up after the brand took on its first major investment of $90 million from billionaire businessman Brett Blundy in exchange for 40 per cent of the business in 2024.

Henry-Hicks has established herself as a fashion powerhouse since joining forces with her mother Maree Hicks, who founded the label Stiletto in the 1970s, to transform Dissh from a physical retailer into a $150 million global e-commerce brand.
Her father Melville Hicks is the co-founder of surf shop franchise City Beach.

Other properties held by Henry-Hicks and Lau include a $5.05 million renovated 1920s home in the Brisbane suburb of New Farm.
Architect Michael Hogg designed the home with multiple living spaces, including an outdoor room, back courtyard, living room and dining room.

The property also has a 14-metre lap pool and a rooftop terrace with panoramic city views.
Formerly known as Colehurst and renamed MM House, the residence features a dramatic architectural redesign.
