A British father has been left heartbroken and now faces life as a single parent after the shocking death of his wife on a dream holiday overseas.

Beth and Luke Martin jetted off to Istanbul in Turkey with their two young children, 8-year-old Elouise and 5-year-old Tommy on April 27.

Unexpectedly, the 28-year-old became unwell mid-flight and initially disregarded it as food poisoning but the following day her condition worsened and she was taken in an ambulance to a local hospital.

“The children watched helplessly as their mum was pinned down, poked and prodded invasively by strangers” says a GoFundMe page set up by Mrs Martin’s family.

The family were denied access to Mrs Martin’s room for most of the day until Mrs Martin’s mother was finally given access and saw her daughter “barely alive” on life support.

Mrs Martin passed away later that evening.

Heartbreakingly, Mr Martin had been held at the hotel, accused by Turkish authorities of poisoning his wife and therefore unable to see her before she died.

“He was grilled, accused and broken beyond repair,” said the family on the GoFundMe page.

In a sickening twist, the UK autopsy later revealed that Mrs Martin’s heart had been removed after she passed away.

Beth’s best friend, Ellie Grey, also flew out to try and help before Mrs Martin passed away and revealed that she was only allowed to see the body for “30 seconds” in the morgue and it felt like a “horror story.”

“Me, Beth’s mum and Luke were then handed a corner of her bodybag and were forced to lift her body into a coffin and carry it down a hallway,” she said.

Mr Martin shared his heartbreak in a raw social media post earlier this month according to The Daily Mail.

He also described the unimaginable trauma of discovering that his wife’s heart had been removed without consent.

“The Turkish hospital has removed her heart. No explanation. No consent. They have invaded her body and they have TAKEN her heart” he wrote.

Beth’s family explain on the GoFundMe page that they suspect her death may be linked to a missed heart condition or an allergic reaction to penicillin, which they believe she may have been administered despite them trying to explain to doctors about the allergy.

“Beth’s death is now being investigated as a potential negligence by the hospital” the GoFundMe page states.

The family and friends of Mrs Martin have been overwhelmed by donations and words of support that have flooded in from around the world and have raised over $445,000 via the GoFundMe page.

“I am absolutely gob smacked at the amount of help and support you guys as a community have poured into this and still I ask you for more. Please please please keep sharing, posting and if possible, donating.” Mr Hammond said.
