Swimming legend Ariarne Titmus returns to the Launceston pool where she began her career, carrying the King's Baton Relay as part of its final Australian stop in Tasmania.

Freshly retired Olympic freestyle great Ariarne Titmus will return to the pool deck but this time with a microphone as part of the Channel 7 broadcast team for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in July and August.

And the 25-year-old won’t have to roam to far from home for tips — dad Steve is a veteran journalist who presents sport with Seven News in Brisbane.

“I am going to be doing a bit of sports reporting back into the bulletin, so I have asked him to send me some of his scripts which I can practise on and then send him voice memos and get feedback,” Titmus told The West Australian.

“This is the first time I have ever asked my dad for any tips in the media. I have always tried to always be really authentic and be myself and not be too rehearsed, but now that I am going to be part of the bulletin, as well as the other work I am doing, I think it’s important that I get a little bit of coaching. It’s pretty cool that my dad can help me out.”

Titmus, 25, who captured four Olympic and seven Commonwealth Games gold medals, will be on the pool deck for the mixed zone where she will speak with swimmers after they leave the water, while she will record one-on-one interviews with Australian team members.

The Games will be broadcast live, free and exclusively on Seven and 7plus Sport from Friday, 24 July, to Monday, 3 August.
