Musi’s father Pat confirmed her death with a post on Facebook.

“Surrounded by her family, in the comfort of her own home, Lizzy was called to heaven at 11:25pm tonight. Thank you for all the prayers and support throughout her battle,” he wrote.

“At this time, the family would like to have time to process, grieve and make arrangements in peace. We will give an update as soon as we have information to share.”

Street Outlaws — the official home of American street racing — paid tribute to Musi on X (formerly Twitter).

“We’re deeply saddened to share the news of Lizzy Musi’s passing. She was a treasured member of the racing world and our Street Outlaws community. We extend our condolences to her family and all those who loved her,” they tweeted.

Musi was a longtime drag racer, who rose to prominence in 2014 when she became the first woman to win a Pro Nitrous national event at the Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) US Drags at Virginia Motorsports Park.

In 2019, she appeared on “Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings” where she became not only the first female driver to win an event, but also the first driver to take three consecutive victories.

She would also feature in a number spin-offs from “Street Outlaws”, including “Locals Only”, “Gone Girl” and “Fastest in America”.

Musi was diagnosed with breast cancer in April last year and documented her fight on Instagram.

“Hey Everyone, I haven’t been able to have much time to post due to an unexpected life change. A few days ago I have been Diagnosed with Triple Negative Stage 4 Breast Cancer that has moved to my lymph nodes to my liver,” she wrote in April, 2023.

In June last year, she shared a photo of herself with a shaved head after suffering “extreme hair loss”.

Her final post on Instagram was just four weeks ago from a cancer treatment facility in Germany.

Fans flooded that post with tributes after learning of her death.

“RIP to a legend! You’ll be missed,” one said.

“Long live you. Race in heaven lizzy,” another added.

“RIP drag racing legend!” another said.
