A third-party website is reportedly using artificial intelligence to trawl through other websites like LinkedIn, lifting the personal details of politicians.

Authorities are scrambling to keep Anthony Albanese’s personal number private after reporters revealed it is available on a US-based website, government sources familiar with the issue have told NewsWire.

The site’s owner uses AI to scrape the web, including social media platforms and professional profiles, for contact details.

The scraped information is then compiled to create an entry on the site’s database, effectively creating a digital phonebook.

Other world leaders are among the hundreds of millions of entries, including Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron.

The numbers were reportedly scraped from LinkedIn – a claim that the platform has rejected.

Sussan Ley is also listed.

“We were made aware of this issue when media contacted us yesterday,” a spokesman for the Opposition Leader told NewsWire.

“This is obviously concerning, and we have reached out to LinkedIn to understand what occurred here.

“We are waiting for their response.

“We have asked the website to remove the information.”

The leak was first reported by Ette Media, who shared a video calling a leaked number for the Prime Minister.

The call goes to voicemail, where Mr Albanese’s voice can be heard saying “Hi, you’ve rung Anthony Albanese, leave a message”.

It is not the first time the phone numbers of Australia’s most senior politicians have been leaked.

In 2017, the private numbers of hundreds of MPs, senators and staffers were published on the Parliament House website after the Department of Parliamentary Services failed to delete them from released phone bills.
