Bob Katter’s son has crashed his personal plane for the second time in three years, this time with his heavily pregnant wife on-board.

Member for Traeger Robbie Katter crash landed his personal plane at Mount Isa Airport in North Queensland about noon on Wednesday, causing significant damage to the plane.

His pregnant wife Daisy Katter and parliamentary chief of staff Cameron Parker were on-board the 1985 Mooney M20 plane during the crash, but all parties walked away uninjured.

“It was pretty traumatic for everyone, particularly my wife, she’s heavily pregnant,” Mr Katter told ABC News.

“When you bring family or staff or friends or anything in there, there’s a very real sense of responsibility when you’re a pilot in command of an aircraft.

“That’s going to be a real psychological battle for me as well going forward, but I think most of it comes with trying to do things better and tidying up when you make mistakes and improving things too.

“If you look a bit close, you can see there’s a lot of damage … it will be in the hands of the insurance at this point.”

Mr Katter crashed the same plane two years earlier in May 2023, also at Mount Isa Airport.

The outback MP said he forgot to put the landing gear down moments before landing, forcing the plane to land on its undercarriage and skid 50m before coming to a standstill.

Mr Katter said it was a “big wake-up call” at the time.
