The release of Rebel Wilson’s memoir has been delayed indefinitely amid speculation she is facing legal threats over comments made towards Borat actor Sacha Baron Cohen.

Her new book Rebel Rising was set for release on Wednesday but was instead cancelled with no new release date in sight.

Pre-orders were reportedly cancelled from online sellers and refunds were issued to fans following the sudden change.

It comes as Wilson’s book is expected to feature allegations against actor Sacha Baron Cohen’s conduct while filming The Brothers Grimsby.

Leaked pages from the book said she felt “scared” when Baren Cohen allegedly asked her to get “naked” while making the 2016 film.

“While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence,” Cohen’s spokesperson previously said in a statement.

“Including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby.”

Baron Cohen is believed to have engaged lawyers amid talks he is mentioned in her book.

Australian publisher Harper Collins AU has since confirmed that the memoir’s publication had been delayed.

“Publication of Rebel Rising has been delayed, but we have no further comment,” the publisher told media.

“I wrote about an a...hole in my book,” Wilson told her Instagram followers. “Now, said a....... is trying to threaten me. He’s hired a crisis PR manager and lawyers.

“He is trying to stop the press from coming out about my book. But the book WILL come out, and you will all know the truth.”

She later told followers that: “I will not be silenced by high-priced lawyers or PR crisis managers. The a****** I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is Sacha Baron Cohen.”

Wilson plays his on-screen love interest, Dawn, with whom he shares 11 children, while Baron Cohen’s real-life love, and fellow Australian actor, Fisher, plays Jodie Figgs.

The comedy was lambasted by critics, and it currently holds a 34 per cent rotten rating from the most prestigious reviewers surveyed by Rotten Tomatoes.

Speaking in 2016, Cohen opened up about casting Wilson as his love interest in the comedy instead of wife and co-star Fisher.

While appearing on Network 10’s The Project, he joked that his decision to cast the funny woman was simply because “there’s problems at home”.

“The studio is putting a lot of pressure on Rebel to have the child to coincide with the release of the movie,” he joked.

“I think it is unfair because she is only five months in.”

In 2015, Wilson told news.com.au that filming sex scenes with Baron Cohen was “disgusting”.

“I had a sex scene with Sacha Baron Cohen, and it was just the most disgusting thing ever.”
