Peta Credlin has blasted a Sky News colleague while discussing the gender divide between Anthony Albanese and Peter Dutton, telling him women “don’t vote with our vaginas”.

Credlin invited Sky’s political editor Andrew Clennell to speak on her show on Tuesday evening after polling released showed men were more likely to vote for Mr Dutton.

She asked Clennell what he thought about the gender divide ahead of the Federal election.

“I think I’ve said to you a couple of times now Peta, that if Peter Dutton wants to win... one thing he can do is a couple of women-friendly policies and win over 2 or 3 per cent of that voting cohort and he’ll be in a (much) better position to form government,” he replied.

But Credlin was not impressed with her colleague’s take on the issue, asking him: “What’s a women-friendly policy, mate?”

“You think we don’t care about the economy, we don’t care about Defence?,” she asked.

“I’m not a woman but I’m saying if he went for that constituency, if he did a couple of things in that area, and I remember Gladys Berejiklian did that sort of thing in the 2019 campaign,” Clennell said.

But Credlin was having none of it, cutting in to tell her colleague he was insulting the intelligence of women.

“You insult our intelligence,” she said.

“You insult our intelligence to think we don’t care about things that the men care about in the campaign.”

Clennell tried to back-pedal, saying “of course” women cared about the same issues as men.

“But people vote with their hip pocket and if there is a sense amongst women that they don’t like this bloke he needs,” he said before Credlin cut him off.

“We don’t vote with our vaginas mate, we do not vote with our vaginas,” she said.

“Well you’re the one that asked me about a gender difference Peta, I mean you raised it,” Clennell fired back in reply.

“No, I’m asking you about what you can read into it and you’re saying that he’s got to have women’s policies to win women,” she said.

“I find that offensive. I find that offensive.”

“Well what’s your suggestion for winning over women for Peter Dutton, Peta?,” Clennell asked.

“I think it’s about the personality, it’s about the warmth, it’s about women feeling they can understand the bloke, it’s not about policies with a pink cover sheet,” she said.

“Anyway, you’re a bloke, I’m a woman, we’ll see. We’ll see. Thanks Andrew, good to have you back on deck.”
