DemosAU poll: One Nation draws level with Coalition claiming ‘monumental result’

One Nation has reached level pegging with the Coalition on primary votes for the first time, according to a new poll that showed the Opposition continuing to bleed support to its right flank.
The DemosAU poll, published by Capital Brief on Friday, showed One Nation and the Coalition both with primary votes of 23 per cent, while Labor had 29 per cent.
Nearly a third of people who voted for the Liberals or Nationals at the May election now say they would vote for the Pauline Hanson-led party.

“One Nation has drawn level with the Coalition on 23 per cent of the primary vote, marking a historic breach of Australia’s entrenched two-party system,” the party said.

The poll result is nearly four times higher than One Nation’s primary vote at the 2025 election.
It puts Opposition leader Sussan Ley in a difficult position as she prepares to release her party’s internally contentious migration policy, which has already been delayed by almost a month.
Some on her party’s right flank, including Andrew Hastie and Jacinta Nampijipna Price, have pushed for a hardline approach to immigration while moderates caution against further alienating multicultural voters.
The poll comes six weeks after one-time deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce quit the Nationals to join One Nation, for whom he will head the 2028 NSW Senate ticket.
