Mr Albanese became the first party leader to win two consecutive elections since John Howard in 2004 on Saturday with a landslide win.

Labor enjoyed a swing towards their government, a feat never seen in Australia by a first-term government.

Mr Albanese’s pet pooch Toto has been a regular cameo-maker over the past three years and even helped out on the campaign, walking with Labor MP Jerome Laxale and his dog Toby in the ultra marginal seat of Bennelong on Good Friday.

The post came the same day former Opposition leader Peter Dutton flew into Canberra for the first time since his crushing election defeat which also saw him lose his seat of Dickson.
