Menzies electorate guide: Federal election 2025 candidates, results and margin

While the seat of Menzies has only ever been held by the Liberal party, a redistribution is giving Labor plenty of hope they can nab the outer metropolitan Melbourne seat this election.
While the seat was won by first-term MP Keith Wolahan in 2022 on a very tight margin of 0.7 per cent a redistribution impacting the seat means it is now notionally a Labor seat by 0.4 per cent.
Menzies’ boundaries have changed significantly with it losing suburbs in the north east and eastern sides of of the electorate while it gains area to the south.

The area of Menzies has a higher than usual Chinese population, with more than a quarter of residents having Chinese ancestry.
The seat was first established in 1984 and has not been lost by the Liberal party since, somewhat fittingly given it was named after the longest serving Liberal PM Robert Menzies.
Menzies has only had three MPs in its existence with Mr Wolahan winning the seat in 2022 following the retirement of former minister Kevin Andrews who passed away last year.
While Menzies has been a long-time safe seat for the Liberals, recent redistribution and falling support for the Coalition has seen the party’s two party preferred drop over the last 12 years.
Trying to win the seat for Labor for the very first time is lawyer and former public servant Gabriel Ng who’s the son of a Chinese Singaporean immigrant father and mother from regional Victoria.
