Ryan electorate guide: Federal election 2025 candidates, results and margin

Ryan was one of the surprise gains for the Greens party in the 2022 election as they swept up three metropolitan seats in the typically conservative state of Queensland.
The affluent western Brisbane electorate is currently held by Elizabeth Watson-Brown in what was somewhat of an unexpected result.
The Greens jumped into contention in 2022 after overtaking Labor to second on the primary vote, giving them the preferences of the major party.

It was only the second time the seat has fallen out of Liberal hands.
In 2022, Ms Watson-Brown won the seat with a margin of 2.6 per cent after finishing ahead of Labor by a margin of 9.5 per cent in the final three candidate round of preferences.
Thanks to receiving more than 80 per cent of Labor’s preferences, the Greens were elected.
The seat could potentially be vulnerable given the Greens’ relatively week result in the recent in which the party lost a seat and amassed less than 10 per cent of the primary vote.
Despite this, the Greens primary support has polled steady in the final weeks of the campaign.
Ms Watson-Brown unseated first-term MP Julian Simmonds who had beaten his colleague Jane Prentice in the LNP’s pre-selection process three year’s prior.
This election, the Liberal party have pre-selected barrister Maggie Forrest to challenge for the seat while Labor has named teacher Rebecca Hack as their candidate.
