A submission to a Senate inquiry bearing the name of a former One Nation candidate has appeared to question whether the Bondi terror attack, which targeted Australia’s Jewish community, could have been committed by Israel.

On December 14, a pair of allegedly ISIS-inspired gunmen opened fire on a group of Jewish festivalgoers, killing 15 people and injuring dozens more, in the worst terrorist attack on Australian soil.

The tragedy led to the establishment of the anti-Semitism royal commission, tasked with probing the circumstances that led up to the attack, as well as the passing of Australia’s toughest gun and anti-hate laws.

NewsWire can reveal a public submission to the Combatting Antisemitism, Hate and Extremism Bill 2026, authored by Gary Williamson, with the submitter’s name recorded as “One Nation”, appears to question the motivations of the alleged gunmen who carried out the Bondi terror attack.

“I’m talking Bluntly (sic) now to the fact that it is possible that Israel infact (sic) may have committed this crime on its own People for just this reason, in Criminalising anyone who may have an Opinion!” the submission reads.

NewsWire asked former One Nation candidate Mr Williamson a series of questions, including whether he wrote the submission bearing his name and was told: “in a FULL investigation no Question is out of the Question.”

The submission referred to its author as a representative for constituents in the Redlands and Bowman electorate in Queensland, as well as Mr Williamson’s nickname ‘Gary the Bricky’.

“The Oppression of Australian Citizens for the benefits (sic) of a foreign state. (Israel) Is infact an Act of treason (sic), and if the royal Commission does in fact find the events of the day to have been instigated by Israel, then it must be construed only as an ACT of war!,” the submission read.

It claimed the anti-hate legislation was “biased” towards and “incriminating for” all groups except the “Jewish Zionist community”.

“The Autrosities (sic) of the Day where abhorrent and a disgrace that is no Question, but to rush threw (sic) laws that only Serve to protect one Minority group is biased nd (sic) only leds to Cencership (sic) of the truth and legal Discourse and discussion,” the submission read.

It suggested the passage of the Bill be “suspended until such time as the royal Commission (sic) has completed its investigation and made recommendations”.

Mr Williamson responded to NewsWire’s questions by branding the submission’s accusations towards Israel a legitimate question, in a rambling statement that began with 15 laughing emojis.

“You are propaganda Professionals I ask the hard Questions I stand for righteousness and truth,” he wrote.

“That my friend is a VALID question in a FULL investigation no Question is out of the Question.”

He later added: “I’m Gary the Bricky I’m Australia First.”

Mr Williamson ran on the One Nation ticket for the 2024 Queensland state election and was also endorsed the following year by Clive Palmer’s Trumpet of Patriots as a federal candidate for Bowman, finishing fifth.

He declined to comment on questions about any current political affiliation, but his profile remains on the One Nation website’s candidates page.

Mr Williamson has previously come under scrutiny for controversial comments relating to the Jewish community, including comparing the Covid vaccine to the Holocaust, in 2024.
