National cabinet strikes landmark deal on hospital funding and NDIS

The Federal and State Governments have struck a landmark deal on hospital funding and the NDIS that will lead to an extra $25 billion in Commonwealth money flowing into health systems.
After years of negotiations, national cabinet agreed to the deal at a meeting in Sydney on Friday, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced.
His Government upped its offer from the $23 billion that was on the table when health ministers met in December.

Leaders also agreed to cap the annual growth of the NDIS at 6 per cent – below the 8 per cent target decided in 2023, and considerably lower than the 10 per cent it was sitting at late last year.
